Ms. V's birthday happened to fall ON Mother's Day this year, which is sweet and special in theory, but pure chaos in reality.
We let her open her present before church (and then re-wrapped it later for her party on Friday...) and she loved what Fernando had picked out: A big-girl Dora cup, with matching spoon and fork.
Mother's Day at our church is a big deal, and each year the guys put together some charming/embarrassing musical number to delight us ladies. And each year, it works. This year was "Man, I Feel Like a Woman" with lots of dancing, flash mob style. Fernando wound up on stage with four other guys, leading the charge (and "leading the charge" is just a manly way to say "ended up in a can-can line").
We were too tired to join the big family gathering after church, so after some serious naps, we headed to Mema's house to celebrate with a no-cook dinner (Chinese take out!) and Violet's first 2nd birthday cake: Cheesecake. My kind of meal.
It was a sweet evening and a perfect way to celebrate Violet's 2nd year of life.
